Tour de USA: Friends bicycle across the country, scarfing calories along the way

Chris Slater’s finger zigzags slowly across the road atlas. He doesn’t get far before the name of one little town or another reminds him of something that happened during the 22-day trip from Boulder, Colo., to Boston. 

It’s easier to remember each dot-on-a-map town when it’s not flying by at 70 mph, easier to get a feel for the places you’ve been when you’ve bicycled down Main Street or have stayed with some of its residents.
